Infrastructure & Support
We had an engaging Infrastructure & Support call this week, catching up after a team member's time off and sharing updates on last week's cases. Overall, everything went smoothly. The advantages of our strategic partnerships were evident as we reviewed closed cases and upcoming deployments.
Xerox successfully repaired a broken paper tray for a client. We identified the issue, initiated a request with Xerox, and a technician was on-site the next day to resolve the problem without requiring our presence.
WatchGuard earned well-deserved recognition for their Firebox pre-deployment configuration options. With two new deployments this week, we managed seamless installations at two customer locations.
Microsoft also made onboarding easy for two new employees with Microsoft Cloud PCs, allowing companies to provide configurable Virtual PCs to staff.
Devices
Xerox Partner Print Services (XPPS) offers an amazing, comprehensive managed print service for inWorks LLC customers who invest in eligible Xerox printers.
Curious about the advantages of XPPS?
Never run out of toner: Printers are monitored for toner usage, and replacements are automatically sent when needed.
Tech support on standby: Although the INW technicians are skilled, printer issues can be challenging to resolve remotely. XPPS includes service and technical support for any problems we can't fix ourselves.
Proactive Monitoring: Web-based monitoring allows INW to manage and adjust many Printer/Multi-Function Device (MFD) settings remotely, facilitating quick changes without the need for physical presence.
Xerox offers a wide range of devices that are XPPS eligible, from small to medium office printers, to enterprise grade MFDs. If you'd like to discuss your printing needs, let's chat!
Operations & Growth
In the way of Growth this week we are reviewing Longview Branding guidelines and service offerings for art|Works Initiative. Both efforts have been getting a lot of love and it shows! It's exciting to see the developed persona of Longview and equally exciting to see the offerings we provide for AWI members packaged and ready for consumption!
In other news, have reached another exciting milestone in the Forestry plan project. We recently received a packet of detailed information from the USDA related to our conservation contract. There are multitudes of maps and surveys specific to the Longview Farm for us to review, but nothing feels more real than a tri-fold portfolio full of nerdy forest information 🤓. This week we also received a draft copy of our forestry plan from Timber Ridge Forestry. Much to review!
Information Radiation
In our recent Information Radiation discussion, the implications of the US pulling funding from the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) program, a key component of global cybersecurity, were examined. The potential collapse of the CVE system without US support could hinder the ability to monitor and address vulnerabilities across various software systems worldwide. However, in a last-minute decision, the US government, through CISA, agreed to continue funding the CVE program, ensuring no lapse in its critical services. Additionally, a non-profit foundation has been formed to focus on continuing the program's work, providing a reprieve and maintaining the integrity of global cybersecurity efforts.
On April 16, 2025, the cybersecurity community faced a potential crisis as US government funding for the CVE program, managed by MITRE and sponsored by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), was set to expire. The CVE program, a critical global standard for identifying and cataloging software vulnerabilities, risked disruption, which could have led to deterioration of national vulnerability databases, advisories, tool vendors, incident response operations, and critical infrastructure. In an eleventh-hour turnaround, CISA extended the contract with MITRE, ensuring there would be no lapse in critical CVE services. This extension is expected to last 11 months, but the long-term future of the CVE program remains uncertain.
The reinstatement of funding highlights the importance of the CVE program to the cybersecurity community and underscores the need for proactive measures to ensure the resilience and sustainability of vulnerability management systems. This decision not only secures the immediate continuation of the CVE program but also emphasizes the critical role of global collaboration in maintaining robust cybersecurity defenses. Thanks for reading inWorks LLC Notes & Observations!
