May 10, 2024 - This week’s notables
Infrastructure & Support
Help desk support related activities have been less than notable, and in this case, we’ll take no news as good news. The quiet period has allowed us to give attention to operational tasks.
In the project pipeline, we received approval on a SharePoint migration proposal and got started on that this week. We’ll also be looking at an Intranet modernization, moving their existing intranet from SharePoint on-prem to Modern SharePoint.
Devices
We have been dealing with an issue with Apple Business Manager and Intune that was blocking apps from being installed on an iPad through policy assignment. This week we made progress and managed to set up the iPad with the necessary settings and apps. The original issue was not fully resolved, and might be beyond our control, but the workaround was to use a different method of registration, which instantly gave us the expected result.
In other device news, we are preparing for two separate WatchGuard network infrastructure deployment projects with equipment on its way! One will be a firewall installation for Ricky’s home office and one the other will be an access point upgrade for a client. In both cases, we plan to test pre-deployment configuration for a smooth and easy install.
Also part of our devices discussion was proper disposal of IT equipment. How do you get rid of your unwanted computers? We’re looking for more resources to help our customers with this, while ensuring that disposed PCs are securely wiped of confidential or proprietary information.
Operations & Growth
We didn't have a lot of material for the Information Radiation portuin of our week, but we did re-sign our partner agreement with Zensai and are happy to keep providing Learn365 as well as the new products that will be accessible.
Information Radiation
Our operations goal for this week was to finish April's billing, and we managed to send out all the invoices for services and subscriptions by Thursday! We're also pleased to announce that we have resolved some ongoing issues with our distributor and Microsoft subscription billing at last!
Unfortunately, we discovered a problem in Business Central with the Quote to Invoice process. Essentially, the price on the Quote is correct, but when it goes from Quote to Sales Order to Purchase Order and then Sales Invoice, the sales invoice price disregards the quote price and reverts to the Item's original price as it was initially entered in the item catalog. Fortunately, we were able to spot this before invoicing for equipment, but there are a few minor adjustments that need to be done from previous billing periods.
