inPulse, our weekly spotlight series, is all about connecting with team members across inWorks LLC—sharing what’s fueling their work, celebrating achievements, and highlighting upcoming events or shoutouts.
This week, we had a quick chat with Kelsey Mattison, Longview Farm’s Marketing & Events Manager, to get some insights.
Black Friday Success
As the Events Manager at Longview Farm, Kelsey takes the lead on organizing and executing most farm initiatives, such as our annual Black Friday market, Earth Day celebration, workshops, and more. We asked Kelsey if there is a specific project or recent event that she is proud of working on.
Our Black Friday market! This year we hosted our 2nd annual Friends & Family Market on Black Friday, inviting local vendors to sell their artwork, crafts, baked goods, etc. We love to give our community an opportunity to shop local on Black Friday. Vendors offered “friends and family” discounts.
The market was on a smaller-scale this year, but successful nonetheless! New connections were made, and the overall energy was great. We were all happy to be a part of the day and help out where we could.
Color-Coded Productivity
Kelsey is a self-proclaimed calendar enthusiast.
She loves organizing her schedule and planning work-time to stay on task and meet deadlines efficiently. To keep things structured, she blocks off specific time slots for different projects and tasks. One of her favorite strategies is color-coding her calendar, which helps her quickly identify which tasks belong to which category.
Why Alignment Matters
When asked what motivates her in her day-to-day work, Kelsey explained that it starts by working for an organization whose values align with her own. She believes it’s important that the work she does contributes something positive to the world—even if that impact is small. For Kelsey, being part of a team that strives to create opportunities in their community is what truly inspires her.
I love working for an organization that aims to create an inclusive space for the community it serves.
Celebrating Quirks
What Kelsey appreciates most about the team at inWorks LLC/Longview Farm is the individuality of her coworkers. In her opinion, each person brings their own unique quirks to the team—including herself—and she enjoys watching the playful dynamics that have unfolded throughout her time at the company.
