inPulse: Weekly Update with Jeremy Mattson
Checking in with our Accounting and Sustainability Specialist, Jeremy Mattson
Welcome back to inPulse, our weekly spotlight series to highlight the unique work and experiences within their positions.
As our final quarter is winding down, we are talking challenges, advice, productivity, and thought process.
Today we are talking to Jeremy, our Accounting and Sustainability Specialist at inWorks LLC and The Longview Farm
Overcoming end-of-the-year Challenges
In combining his two jobs, Jeremy found that his end of the year tax prep was getting messy when throwing in his sustainability reporting at the same time. Jeremy found that creating a combined checklist for both of his responsibilities made his processes much easier and staying on track.
Jeremy’s Life Raft: QuickBooks
“I’ve been using Quickbooks to pull financial and sustainability data together. Honestly, it’s been a lifesaver for spotting trends and making reports look sharp.” -Jeremy
Jeremy’s Advice for New Team Members
Jeremy finds that most valuable thing a new team member can do is ask questions early and often. We often are dealing with complex business arrangements, industry jargon, and a ton of different job responsibilities.
“It’s the fastest way to learn why we do things the way we do—and it saves you from headaches later.” -Jeremy
Sustainability as a Financial Intelligence, Not Just Novelty
As the world and the economy is changing, Jeremy finds that more people are choosing sustainability as a financial choice, not just a box to check for their business or practice. This has changed the way that we are talking about the value of sustainability in long-term business strategy.
