Highlight: Home IT
Technology should make your life easier — not more frustrating. That’s why we’re excited to introduce a dedicated section of our blog for all your Home IT needs, your go-to resource for practical, people-first home tech support.
Whether your Wi-Fi is acting up, your printer refuses to cooperate, or you’re trying to set up a new device, we’re here to help — simply and clearly. Our team walks you through unboxing, setup, and learning what your tech actually does, so you feel confident using it. We also help you stay protected online, with tips for stronger passwords, scam awareness, and safe browsing practices.
Best of all? You’re never talking to a bot. Just real help from a real person — the same friendly faces each time, ready to call, text, or stop by when you need support.
Explore our new Home IT blog section for tips, how-tos, and tech support that speaks your language.
Infrastructure & Support
During this week's Infrastructure & Support call, the team reviewed ongoing cases and we are pleased to report that there are no major issues to address this week. In preparation for an upcoming technology acquisition for one of our NIST 800-171 accounts, we have established a formal procedure to ensure we gather all necessary information and document this change in the customer’s environment. Utilizing Microsoft Forms and incorporating Dynamics Field Service features, the comprehensive solution will provide a reportable system change log.
A significant update to Microsoft Teams was also discussed. Previously, when you created a new team, the default first channel was named General and was pinned at the top of the channel list. Microsoft later changed this, requiring you to name the first channel yourself and prohibiting the name ‘General.’ This change was quite frustrating, but now, in a reversal, we have the option to name the first channel ‘General' again and have it pinned at the top of the list, where it belongs. Thank goodness for circular innovation!
Devices
In our devices meeting this week, we touched on our HP partnership, specifically regarding their line of Poly communication equipment. Recent meetings with our newly assigned HP rep are giving our partnership some new life, as they are working to improve their SMB partner support. We'll be reaching out to find out if Poly is benefitting from the improved partner support on the PC and Computing side.
We were also introduced to an issue with the satellite internet service that shall not be named here. It seems there is a known issue that prevents access to some Microsoft web properties. The problem manifests as a error while signing in to desktop apps and some web applications. With limited troubleshooting time, we have not yet resolved the problem, but will be exploring possible solutions.
Operations & Growth
It's been a few weeks since our last regular Notes & Observations post, but we have been quite busy with regard to Operations & Growth.
First, we're pleased to welcome Aaron to the Longview Farm team. Aaron joins us as Environmental Project Manager, bringing a wealth of knowledge from the fields of mycology, sustainability, photography and social media. He will be assisting us with a variety of initiatives, including implementation of our forestry plan and conservation efforts, developing farm based revenue opportunities, and connecting Longview Farm with our community. Since he's been with us, he's already provided us with some excellent arial footage of the farm.
In other exciting news, we've officially launched Home IT with inWorks LLC! We're still working through some of our marketing materials, but we're happy with the product we're offering. Now bringing the friendly, attentive IT support you know to your home. Home IT is also a gift of reassurance for loved ones who need a navigator in the digital world.
We're also making progress with our Power Pages event portal for Longview Farm. We've dispatched support from Microsoft to work through the remaining issues we're facing, and once we do, it will open the door for us to leverage Dynamics and Power Pages more fully to align with our overall operations strategy.
Finally, the printer in the barn in now Wi-Fi enabled! Kudos to our distributor for ⚡fast shipping - ordered at 3PM on a Friday, delivered Saturday morning.
Information Radiation
This week's interactions brought our attention to the importance of radiating information in effective ways. With the launch of Home IT, we presented our OG Home IT clients with fresh marketing materials for feedback. The reaction was not what we expected, but what we learned is the power of a visual to anchor the audiences idea of a product or service. We'll be adjusting out messaging a bit, to emphasize the personal service we provide, removing the emphasis on computer support - because in reality, that is a small part of how we can help.
Getting Social: TikTok with art|Works Initiative
At art|Works, we’ve embraced the creativity and authenticity of Gen Z by bringing their perspective directly into our marketing strategy (if you have read this far, I think you deserve to know that I am talking about myself). With their natural fluency in digital culture, our resident Gen Z Marketing Specialist, Jocelyn, has helped us tap into platforms like TikTok to tell our story in fresh, relatable ways. From behind-the-scenes clips to trending audio spins on our services, we’ve been able to connect with a wider audience by showing the heart of what we do — real support for real artists. TikTok isn’t just entertainment; it’s become a powerful tool for visibility, community building, and sharing the mission of art|Works with a whole new generation.
