Infrastructure & Support
⚠️ Security Alert We have identified a sophisticated phishing attack targeting our environment, and possibly others. The fraudulent emails appear to come from a trusted source, using a deceptive domain name that mimics our official communications. The attackers have crafted the email address to include familiar company elements, attempting to mislead recipients into believing it is legitimate.
Key points to note:
The sender's name is falsified, using a domain unrelated to Microsoft or your company.
The email address is manipulated to resemble an official company email.
There are spelling errors in the subject line, which could be an intentional oversight by the attackers.
The email's formatting is convincing, but it contains terminology inconsistencies, such as the incorrect use of "Voip" instead of "VOIP."
The phishing page is a close imitation of Microsoft's security features, but a careful examination of the URL reveals its fraudulent nature.
The most concerning aspect is the exploitation of browser functions and Windows' auto sign-in feature to potentially bypass multifactor authentication, indicating a possible unpatched vulnerability in Microsoft's system.
Please exercise caution and refrain from clicking any links in suspicious emails. Always verify the authenticity of the sender and report any unusual activity to our IT department immediately.
This week we were pleased that the most recent release of our remote support solution resolved the connectivity issues which plagued us over the last couple of weeks. The update reverted a change in the user agent string that identifies the solution’s connection to browsers and firewalls; the update has provided stable performance for the last few days.
Devices
This week we learned a new iOS device management mode was recently introduced for Microsoft Intune, enhancing the device management functionalities for corporate owned mobile devices deployed at scale. While we haven’t had the opportunity to explore all of the features of Supervised Mode yet, we’re hopeful that it will improve iOS device management in general, which is notoriously tricky in the Microsoft ecosystem. Supervised Mode is an extension of Microsoft Intune, which helps keep managed devices secure and up-to-date and secure organizational data on compromised devices. If you’d like to learn more about Intune for your company, drop us a line!
Operations & Growth
In the technology realm, we’re working on the next step in our asset and subscription management solution. We’re looking to leverage dashboard features in Dynamics 365 to surface actionable data for more proactive management. Stay tuned!
Last Friday we met with a Forrester from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to tour the wooded land of Longview Farm and discuss forest restoration and long-term plans for the property. We were pleased with the initial evaluation of the woodland and are eager to get started with invasive removal projects in the coming weeks and have plans to further our works with DCNR and the Farm Service Agency to implement a long-term forestry plan.
